Two female students from Sinapali Nodal High School in Odisha’s Nuapada district were hospitalized after reportedly falling ill following the administration of a TD (Tetanus-Diphtheria) vaccine.
The incident occurred during a scheduled immunization drive conducted by the Health Department for Class 10 students.
According to reports, 78 students out of 138 were vaccinated at the school. Shortly after receiving the injection, one student, Gitanjali Nayak, lost consciousness and collapsed. She was immediately rushed to the Sinapali Community Health Center by school authorities. Another student, Jharana Meher, also showed signs of illness and was taken to the same facility.
Both students received primary medical treatment and are now reported to be in stable condition. The immunization drive was carried out by two female health workers and one male staff member from the Health Department.
The sudden illness has sparked concern among parents and raised questions about the safety and handling of the vaccination process. Allegations have surfaced regarding possible negligence by health workers, though officials have stated that a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause.
The incident has triggered widespread dissatisfaction among guardians, with many demanding accountability and stricter oversight of school-based health programs.
