A brutal attack driven by past enmity has left a 52-year-old man critically injured in Rayagada town’s Reli Sahi area.
The victim, identified as R. James, was assaulted with a sharp weapon by three youths, resulting in the severing of one leg and three toes from the other.
The incident occurred when James was standing in his locality and was approached by the trio, who engaged in a heated argument before launching the violent assault with a tangia (axe-like weapon). Locals rushed the severely injured man to the district headquarters hospital for initial treatment. Due to the critical nature of his injuries, he was later shifted to Visakhapatnam for advanced care.
Following a complaint filed by the victim’s family at Rayagada Town Police Station, authorities have initiated an investigation and are actively searching for the accused. The police have confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the attackers.
