Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed a delegation of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers from the 2000 and 2001 batches at Lok Seva Bhawan today, marking a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening Odisha’s global footprint.
The visiting dignitaries included Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador to Romania; Shri Amit Narang, Ambassador to Slovenia; and Mrs. Gloria Gangte, High Commissioner to Malta. During the meeting, the officers praised the Chief Minister’s leadership and lauded Odisha’s rapid development, referring to him as the “People’s CM.”
Discussions centered around governance, global diplomacy, and Odisha’s evolving role in international partnerships. The envoys commended the successful hosting of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar earlier this year, which helped reconnect the Odia diaspora with their roots.
Highlighting the rising demand for skilled professionals in Europe, the ambassadors noted that Odisha’s youth are well-positioned to seize emerging opportunities abroad. In response, the Chief Minister emphasized the success of the “Skilled in Odisha” initiative, which has gained global recognition for its training programs and employment outcomes.
“Odisha is committed to empowering its youth and facilitating international placements,” said CM Majhi. “We also aim to showcase our rich cultural heritage and handicrafts across European nations, enhancing pride and global visibility for the state.”
Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Ahuja and Principal Secretary to CMO Shri Saswata Mishra were also present during the meeting.
