To transform National Sports Day into a mass movement, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced a three-day nationwide celebration from August 29 to 31, 2025.
Led by Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the initiative aims to unite over 35 crore students, athletes, and citizens under the theme “Ek Ghanta, Khel ke Maidan Main,” encouraging everyone to dedicate at least one hour daily to physical activity.
Taking inspiration from PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s inspiring words – “Jo Khelte Hain, Woh Khilte Hain”.
On the occasion of #NationalSportsDay2025, a special three-day celebration (Aug 29–31) will be organised across the nation.

The event commemorates the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and will feature tributes, indigenous games, fitness talks, and a nationwide cycling drive. Eminent athletes such as PV Sindhu, Abhinav Bindra, and Sumit Antil will participate across states, inspiring citizens to embrace sports and fitness.
States and Union Territories have already begun preparations, with Chief Ministers personally monitoring progress. The celebrations align with India’s vision of hosting the Olympic Games in 2036 and emphasize inclusivity by embracing both modern and traditional sports.
The Fit India Mobile App will play a key role in tracking participation and promoting eco-friendly habits through a new Carbon Savings Incentivisation feature. A National Conclave on Sports Manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat theme will also be held, adding momentum to the movement.
With the motto “Har Gali, Har Maidan, Khele Saara Hindustan,” the nation is set to witness an unprecedented celebration of sports, unity, and fitness.
