Operation Sindoor in NCERT syllabus

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has officially introduced a new learning module titled Operation Sindoor into school syllabi across India.

Aimed at students from Classes 3 to 12, the module offers a comprehensive overview of India’s military response to the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists.

According to the NCERT document, the attack was orchestrated by Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives under the guidance of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), despite initial claims by The Resistance Front. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) later confirmed TRF’s involvement through forensic evidence and eyewitness accounts.

Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation, involved precision air strikes by the Indian Air Force targeting nine strategic terror-linked sites within Pakistan. These included command centres, radar installations, and air defence systems. The module emphasises the role of indigenous technology and coordinated defence strategy, framing the operation as a blend of military success, technological advancement, and geopolitical messaging.

Education experts believe the inclusion of such content will foster civic awareness and national security literacy among students. NCERT officials stated that the module is designed to supplement existing textbooks and will be available in digital and print formats.
