Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended a grand celebration at Jawaharlal Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, marking the 151st birth anniversary of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Goswami Prabhupada and the centenary of Sri Saccidananda Math.
The event, organised by the Gaudiya Mission, highlighted the enduring legacy of Srila Prabhupada’s teachings and the Math’s century-long contributions to spiritual, literary, and social initiatives.
In his address, Chief Minister Majhi described Srila Prabhupada as a living embodiment of devotion, service, and humanity. He emphasised that Prabhupada was not only a revered saint and teacher but also a visionary whose philosophy, rooted in the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, continues to inspire. “His message of dedicating life to the service of God remains a guiding light for society,” Majhi said.
The Chief Minister lauded Sri Saccidananda Math for its 100 years of illuminating the path of knowledge, duty, and self-realisation. “In today’s materialistic world, the Math’s efforts in fostering spiritual awareness, education, charity, and ethical values among the youth are invaluable,” he noted. The Math has played a pivotal role in promoting social service, spiritual awakening, and community engagement, making it a beacon of morality and wisdom.
Majhi further stated that Srila Prabhupada’s contributions remain relevant, offering a roadmap for building a society rooted in universal brotherhood, peace, and prosperity. He urged the audience to adopt Prabhupada’s ideals of devotion and service, emphasising that true devotion purifies the soul and leads to a meaningful life. “This anniversary is not just a commemoration but a pledge to uphold his values,” he added.
The event was graced by prominent figures, including Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, who also delivered speeches. Srila Bhakti Sundar Sanyasi Goswami Maharaj, President of the Gaudiya Mission, described Srila Prabhupada as an inexhaustible source of wisdom. Other dignitaries, including Srila Bhakti Vichar Bharati Maharaj and Umesh Khandelwal, were present on the dais.
