Cuttack: In a bid to break the chain of the Covid-19 infection in the state, the Odisha government has imposed night curfews and weekend shutdowns. However, while streets remain deserted during the curfew period, denizens of Twin City.
Reportedly, the night curfew leads to a huge crowd in the markets during the daytime where the rules related to social distancing are often overlooked. Meanwhile, people were also seen without masks in those areas.
Taking advantage of the situation, the traders and vendors are aiming to gain profit by selling utmost items at a high price during the day time. On the other hand, the shopkeepers were suspected to have kept items in the stock so that they could sell those products later at hiked prices.
Due to several upcoming occasions or festivals, a huge crowd was observed at the fruits and flower vendors’ shops.
With the new case detection remaining above in the past few days, the smartcity has moved to ‘High Risk’ from ‘Medium Risk’ in the early days of April.
