New Delhi: On the first day of the Parliament session today, Puri MP Sambit Patra urged the Central government to open a dedicated burn unit and super speciality unit at Sri Jagannath Medical College & Hospital.
During Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha today, Patra apprised the House about the need for opening a dedicated burn unit in Puri.
“Last year on May 29th, there was a tragic fire mishap in the Narendra Pond during Chandan Yatra, claimed the lives of 17 people while several seriously injured persons are still undergoing treatment,” Patra said.
The critically injured persons failed to get medical service in time, which is called the Golden Hours as the Jagannath Dham sans a dedicated burn unit and relies on hospitals located 70 km away in Bhubaneswar.
To curb such casualties, MP Sambit Patra has requested the Health Ministery at the Centre to open a dedicated burn unit and super speciality unit at Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Puri.
