Mumbai: After a family vacation in London, Kohli notified the BCCI of his decision to join the tour in Sri Lanka, prompted by a request from Gautam Gambhir, the Indian team’s new head coach.
Initially, it was anticipated that Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah would rest during the ODI series after the demanding 2024 T20 World Cup schedule.
Nevertheless, Gambhir has called on the trio to be available, pointing out the few ODIs India has before the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Rohit Sharma has also agreed to play in the Sri Lanka ODIs, heeding Gambhir’s call.
Jasprit Bumrah’s participation is still in doubt, and he is expected to skip the tour of Sri Lanka. The BCCI plans to reveal the squad for the series on Thursday.
