Narain Karthikeyan, India’s pioneering Formula One driver, is set to have his life immortalised on screen.
Acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan will direct the biopic, capturing the spirit of a racer who defied odds to put India on the global motorsport map.
Backed by Blue Marble Films, the project brings together producers Faraz Ahsan, Vivek Rangachari, and Pratik Maitra. The screenplay is penned by Shalini Usha Devi, known for her work on Soorarai Pottru, adding depth and emotion to this high-octane narrative.
“His journey isn’t just about racing. It’s about belief in yourself, your country, and a dream no one else can see,” Narayanan told Variety, explaining his draw to the project.
Born in Coimbatore, Karthikeyan’s early love for motorsport was nurtured by his rally-racing father. From training in France’s Elf Winfield Racing School to scoring points for Jordan in the 2005 USA Grand Prix, his career carved a new path for Indian motorsport aspirants.
Over the years, Karthikeyan competed in prestigious circuits including Le Mans, NASCAR, Super Formula and Auto GP. His contribution was recognised with the Padma Shri in 2010.
“Motorsport gave me everything. This film gives that story to the world,” Karthikeyan shared, reflecting on the cinematic tribute.
As anticipation builds, this film promises to be more than a chronicle of speed—it’s a story of grit, pride, and the race to represent a nation.
