Jajpur: Odisha Vigilance sleuths conducted raids in a laterite stone quarry in Jajpur and a sawmill in Cuttack on Saturday.
Based on intelligence, the Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance conducted a raid on an illegal laterite stone quarry at Patabara under Byree police station in Jajpur district.
During the raid, 1 TATA 407 Truck and three power tiller machines along with freshly cut laterite stones were detected and seized.
In this connection, three cases were registered vide UD Case No. 52DJ, 53DJ & 54DJ of 2023-24 in Dalijoda Range under Cuttack Forest Division for violation of U/r-3(1) of Odisha Minor Mineral Concession Rule-2016.
In another operation, today on the running of an illegal sawmill at Mouda village under Mahanga police station in Cuttack district, sawmill accessories along with 32.27 Cft. of valuable timber were detected and seized.
It was ascertained that the above sawmill was running without any valid license, violating Section 4 of The Orissa Sawmill and Sawpit (Control) Act of 1991. In this connection, OR Case was registered vide OR Case No. 97DJ of 2023-24 in Dalijoda Range under Cuttack Forest Division.
In total, the seized value of sawmill accessories, TATA 407 Truck, three power tillers machines, minor minerals, and valuable timbers come to Rs.17,27,090.
