The Congress party is set to hold a massive “Save Constitution, Save India” rally in Bhubaneswar on July 11, 2025, led by senior leader Rahul Gandhi, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, and General Secretary K.C. Venugopal.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Bhakta Charan Das announced the event, emphasising that the party’s campaign to protect the Constitution, initiated under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, will continue from the streets to Parliament. The rally aims to counter what Congress calls the BJP’s attempts to undermine democratic rights.

Das accused the BJP-led Odisha government of orchestrating disruptions to sabotage the rally. He specifically pointed to the ongoing drivers’ strike, alleging that the BJP is exploiting it to harass citizens and obstruct Congress supporters from attending.

“The BJP is conspiring to derail our movement. They’re using the drivers’ agitation to create chaos,” Das said during a press conference at Congress Bhawan. He urged the Drivers’ Mahasangh to cooperate by allowing vehicles from Odisha’s 30 districts to reach Bhubaneswar and requested a one-day suspension of their strike during Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

Congress expressed solidarity with the drivers’ demands but appealed for their support to ensure the rally’s success. “We’re fighting for the country, and we support the drivers’ cause. We’ve discussed with their leaders and hope they’ll back our rally,” Das added, promising continued support for the union from block to state levels.

The rally also coincides with Sunita Biswal’s rejoining Congress after quitting the BJD. Das and former PCC chief Jayadev Jena welcomed her, noting her family’s long-standing Congress legacy. The event is expected to draw thousands, signalling Congress’s intent to strengthen its foothold in Odisha amid growing tensions with the ruling BJP.

As political rivalries intensify, the “Save Constitution” rally underscores Congress’s resolve to challenge the BJP’s policies. With Rahul Gandhi at the helm, the event could galvanise support and set the tone for Congress’s future campaigns in Odisha, potentially reshaping the state’s political narrative.
