The 12th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), one of India’s most-watched sporting spectacles, is scheduled to commence on August 29, as announced by Mashal Sports, the league’s organiser.
Emerging from a gripping two-day auction, the season is already making headlines with 10 players breaching the ₹1 crore mark, the highest ever in PKL history. The announcement came with excitement and anticipation, setting the stage for what is touted as the most competitive PKL season to date.
“We are thrilled to unveil the commencement date for PKL Season 12. Following a record-breaking Player Auction… we’ve set the foundation for an epic season,” said Anupam Goswami, League Commissioner.
Last season’s champions, Haryana Steelers, who clinched their maiden title, will return with a target on their backs. Teams like the Patna Pirates, the only franchise to win three consecutive titles, will be looking to recapture past glory.
Since its debut in 2014, PKL has witnessed eight different champions across 11 seasons, reflecting the league’s intense competitiveness and unpredictability. Beyond its entertainment value, PKL has also become a critical pipeline for the national men’s kabaddi team, which won gold at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games after a nine-year gap.
With growing fan bases, increased digital engagement, and marquee players commanding top dollar, PKL 2025 is poised to elevate the sport’s profile even further.
