The sacred treasury of Lord Jagannath’s temple, popularly known as the Ratna Bhandar, is now fully secure and visually magnificent, affirmed Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb after a close inspection of the ongoing restoration work on Thursday.

The Gajapati, who personally supervised the efforts, stated that the structural and aesthetic revamp of the inner sanctum reflects Odisha’s timeless temple architecture. Over 600 aged stone slabs were replaced with new ones, replicating traditional design while reinforcing safety.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Arabinda Padhee informed that interior repairs are nearly complete, with final touches to the outer treasury expected within the next two days. Key additions include new stainless-steel and vermatic security gates, along with enhanced silver cladding for preservation.

During the inspection, Gajapati expressed satisfaction and extended gratitude to the professional committee overseeing the task. “The sanctum now looks stunning and secure,” he remarked. He further indicated that once Lord Jagannath returns to His Ratna Simhasana (bejewelled throne), the formal inventory and accounting of treasury valuables will commence under government supervision.

By the time Niladri Bije concludes, temple officials expect all restoration works to be wrapped up completely.
