The Odisha Administrative Service Association (OASA) has issued a strongly worded memorandum to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, demanding the immediate arrest of BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan, alleged mastermind behind the assault on Ratnakar Sahoo, Additional Commissioner of BMC.

The letter, signed by Association President Jyoti Ranjan Mishra and other key office bearers, described the attack as a “heinous act” and a “direct assault on the dignity of public service.” The incident, which occurred during official duty hours, has triggered widespread outrage among civil servants.

The Association has placed three urgent demands before the state government:

  1. Immediate arrest of the alleged mastermind, identified as Jagannath Pradhan.
  2. Enhanced security measures for all field-level officers, including Tahsildars, Sub-Collectors, and BDOs.
  3. Public condemnation of the incident by the government reaffirms its commitment to officer safety.

The letter further stated that all OAS officers would remain on leave until these demands are met. “This is not just about one officer—it’s about the safety and dignity of every public servant in Odisha,” the Association emphasised.

The protest has already impacted administrative operations in several districts, with allied services expressing solidarity. Meanwhile, CM Majhi has assured that “no matter how influential the offender may be, the law will prevail.”

As the situation unfolds, the spotlight remains on the state government’s response and its ability to restore confidence among its administrative cadre.
