In a powerful confluence of culture and wellness, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, will celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga across 81 centrally protected monuments on June 21, 2025.
Aligned with this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, the celebrations aim to promote the philosophy of balance—within oneself and with the environment—through India’s ancient practice of yoga, set against the backdrop of its most iconic historical sites.
On this day, entry to all ASI monuments will be completely free of charge, inviting citizens and tourists alike to experience yoga in culturally rich settings such as Konark Sun Temple (Odisha), Purana Qila (Delhi), Gol Gumbaz (Karnataka), Elephanta Caves (Maharashtra), and Chittorgarh Fort (Rajasthan), among others.
The main event will take place in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the celebration, which will be live-streamed nationwide.
High-profile participation is expected across the country:
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Adalaj Vav, Ahmedabad
- Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri at Safdarjung Tomb, Delhi
- Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal at Kanheri Caves, Mumbai
- Minister Pralhad Joshi at Pattadakal Group of Temples, Karnataka
Declared by the United Nations in 2014, International Yoga Day highlights yoga’s global importance as a tool for physical and mental wellness. India’s observance this year underscores its deep-rooted connection between heritage and holistic health.
