Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), India’s leading rooftop solar company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, has launched India’s most affordable rooftop solar solution in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, as part of its ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign.
The company’s consumer-centric financing model makes rooftop solar more accessible for a broader segment of Odisha’s population. Residents can install systems with minimal upfront investment, starting at Rs 2,499 for a 1 kW system, Rs 4,999 for a 2 kW system, and Rs 7,999 for a 3 kW system. This initiative aims to make solar adoption a financially viable option for households.
By allowing customers to pay just one-third of the total cost upfront, the initiative is set to accelerate residential rooftop solar adoption across the state, integrating solar power effortlessly into homes.
Odisha consumers will also benefit significantly from the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, which offers subsidies of up to Rs 78,000 for solar systems up to 3 kW, covering nearly 40% of installation costs. Additionally, the State Government provides further subsidies of Rs 25,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹50,000 for a 2 kW system, and up to Rs 60,000 for systems of 3 kW and above.
This financial support is designed to significantly enhance rooftop solar adoption, making clean energy solutions accessible to households across the state.

Odisha has experienced significant growth in rooftop solar adoption, largely driven by the increased awareness generated through the ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ initiative. The total consumer base has grown more than fourfold, rising from 430 to 1,759, demonstrating the increasing penetration of solar energy among both residential and commercial users. In FY25 alone, the company onboarded 1,033 new solar rooftop customers, representing a tenfold increase from FY24 in the state. The Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment also showed consistent growth in Odisha, adding 76 new consumers in FY25, up from 56 in FY24.
