Bhubaneswar: The maximum day temperature soared to 40 °C or above at as many as 21 places in Odisha, informed the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Thursday.
As per the latest IMD bulletin, mercury soared to 44.2 °C in Sonepur followed by Nuapada 44 °C, Sambalpur & Jharsuguda 43.9 °C each, Hirakud 43.8 °C, Titilagarh; Bolangir; Rourkela; & Bargarh at 43.5 °C each.
Besides, the maximum day temperature at Sundargarh was recorded at 42.1 °C, followed by Boudh; Bhawanipatna & Deogarh 42 °C each, Angul 41.7 °C, Malkangiri & Bhadrak 41 °C each, Chandbali 40.4 °C, Nayagarh 40.2 °C, Phulbani 40.1 °C, Hirakud 42.5 °C, Talcher & Jajpur 41 °C each.
Besides, the day temperature recorded in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack stood at 38.2 °C and 37.5 °C respectively.
