Odisha has recorded seven new COVID-19 cases, taking the state’s cumulative total to 45, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health.

The steady rise, though small, has prompted health authorities to issue renewed caution.

Of the 45 confirmed cases:

  • 33 are currently active

  • 12 patients have recovered

  • No deaths or severe complications have been reported so far

Patients are being treated in isolation wards at designated hospitals, and all are said to be stable.

Dr. Nilakantha Mishra, Director of Public Health, emphasized the need for continued vigilance, urging citizens to wear masks, maintain hand hygiene, and avoid crowded areas. He reiterated that public cooperation is critical to prevent any potential surge.

The Central Government, meanwhile, has advised all states to:

  • Ensure availability of oxygen, ICU beds, and key medications

  • Conduct mock drills to test emergency preparedness

  • Intensify surveillance of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI)

  • Test 100% of SARI cases and at least 5% of ILI cases for COVID-19

As of now, Odisha’s recovery rate remains moderate, but health officials continue to monitor the situation closely, stressing the importance of early detection and timely intervention to contain the spread.
