‘Bhubaneswar Film Festival’ to Feature Multilingual Classics from June 6-9

Bhubaneswar is all set to host the second edition of the Bhubaneswar Film Festival at Jayadev Bhavan, bringing an enriching cinematic experience to film lovers.


Organised by the Bhubaneswar Film Circle, the four-day event will screen classic films in nine different languages, offering audiences a glimpse into diverse storytelling traditions.

Apart from film screenings, the festival will also honour five distinguished personalities for their significant contributions to the Odia film industry.

Films like ‘Matira Manisha’, ‘Kaa’, and ‘Bhakta Salabega’ will be screened on the first day. ‘Kalira Atita’ will be screened on the 7th. ‘Krantidhara’ will be screened on the 8th, and ‘Jajabara’, ‘Nirbachana’, ‘Kanakalata’ and ‘Adina Megha’ will be screened on the 9th.

Apart from Odia cinema, the festival will also screen Gujarati film ‘Bhavni Bhavai’ directed by Ketan Mehta, Kannada film ‘Ghatashraaddha’ directed by Girish Kasarwali, Urdu film ‘Hamid’, Marathi film ‘Sasa’, Chhattisgarhi film ‘Bhulan Da Mej’, Hindi film ‘Damul’ directed by Prakash Jha and Tiwa language film ‘Sikaisal’ directed by Bobby Sharma Baruah. Similarly, the Bengali film ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’ directed by Ritwik Ghatak and the Hindi film ‘Ankur’ directed by Shyam Benegal will be screened.

This year, the Bhubaneswar Film Festival will felicitate five stalwarts for their outstanding contribution to the world of Odia cinema. They include renowned music composer Tansen Singh, veteran actors Shyamlendu Bhattacharya and Jaya Swami, Nirmal Dash for costume design and art director Banchhanidhi Patnaik.
