Aishwarya Rai, former wife of Tej Pratap Yadav, on Monday dismissed his expulsion from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) as mere theatrics ahead of the elections.
Her statement comes a day after RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav announced his son’s expulsion from both the party and the family, citing irresponsible conduct and a disregard for family values.
In a conversation with ANI, Aishwarya, who is also the granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Rai, questioned the sincerity of the decision.
“Why was my life ruined? Why was I beaten? Now they suddenly have a social awakening? They are all together. They have not separated. The elections are near, that is why they have taken such a step and created this drama,” she said.
The controversy was triggered by a Facebook post from Tej Pratap’s verified account, where he claimed to be in a long-term relationship with a woman named Anushka Yadav—a post that reportedly led to his expulsion.
Despite the public fallout, Aishwarya alleged that the Yadav family remains intact behind the scenes, and suggested that the move was a political strategy rather than a genuine disciplinary action.
