Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins have been fined for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during Match No. 61 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Despite not leading on the field during the game—Jitesh Sharma acted as captain while Patidar played as an Impact Player—the penalty was imposed on Patidar as he is RCB’s designated full-time captain for the season. This marked RCB’s second slow over-rate offence, resulting in a fine of ₹24 lakh for Patidar. Additionally, the rest of the playing XI, including the Impact Player, were fined either ₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fee, whichever was lower.
SRH’s captain Pat Cummins was also fined ₹12 lakh as it was his team’s first offence under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate requirements.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the fines in an official statement, emphasizing the league’s strict enforcement of over-rate regulations.
