The sacred wedding ceremony of Lord Lingaraj will take place on May 30 at the Kedar Gauri Temple, as confirmed by the temple administration.
In accordance with the Khadiratna Panji, a traditional Hindu almanac, the Lord will leave the Lingaraj Temple that evening in a ceremonial procession to marry Goddess Gauri. He will return to the Lingaraj Temple on the night of May 31 after completing the wedding rituals.
Although earlier confusion arose due to scheduling differences, the decision to proceed on May 30 was finalized following a review by Khurda district officials. The Additional District Magistrate officially endorsed the date after consulting astrological recommendations.
The Kedaragauri Temple Committee, which had earlier announced May 31 as the wedding date and distributed invitations accordingly, expressed disappointment over the change. Narendra Mahapatra, General Secretary of the committee, noted the confusion caused by relying on multiple almanacs and emphasized the inconvenience faced by organisers and guests.
Temple and district officials have clarified that the May 30 date aligns with the Khadiratna Panjika followed in Puri. “Sital Sasthi will begin on May 31, following the completion of the divine wedding,” said Brahmana Nijog Secretary Biranchi Pati.
With the conflict now resolved, preparations are underway to celebrate the divine union and the Sital Sasthi festival with full spiritual significance and administrative clarity.
