In a fresh round of top-level exits from social networking giant Meta, WhatsApp India Head Abhijit Bose and Director of Public Policy Meta India, Rajiv Aggarwal have resigned from their positions at the company.
According to a report by Economic Times Tech, Shivnath Thukral has been assigned the role of Public Policy Head At Facebook. But, who will be replacing Bose at the company, it yet to be ascertained.
“I want to thank Abhijit Bose for his tremendous contributions as our first Head of WhatsApp in India. His entrepreneurial drive helped our team deliver new services that have benefited millions of people and businesses. There is so much more WhatsApp can do for India and we’re excited to continue helping advance India’s digital transformation,” Will Cathcart, Head of WhatsApp, was quoted as saying in a statement.
This comes within a week of Facebook parent Meta laying off more than 11,000 employees, which is 13 per cent of its total workforce, after a steep slide in digital ad revenue and profit.
According to Wall Street Journal, in his latest meeting with senior executives, Zuckerberg is said to have confirmed “broad cuts” across the company. Employees who lose their jobs would be provided at least four months of salary as a severance.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who took accountability for letting go of 11,000 employees, said he is “sorry” for the actions in a post and acknowledged difficulties for employees on a visa and expressed support to them.
