The Additional District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Court under the POCSO Act in Jharsuguda has sentenced Ajit Nag to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting two minor boys.

The ruling comes after a swift and thorough investigation that utilised scientific techniques, including DNA analysis, to ensure justice was served.

The case, registered on March 23, 2025, saw a remarkably fast turnaround, with police completing their investigation and filing charges within just 16 days. The final verdict was delivered on May 17, merely 55 days after the initial complaint.

According to reports, the offender lured an 11-year-old boy to an abandoned building and assaulted him. Upon protesting, the victim was threatened with strangulation. Further investigations revealed that the accused had assaulted the victim multiple times previously and had also targeted his nephew.

Law enforcement officials emphasised the role of forensic evidence in strengthening the case, ensuring a strong legal foundation for conviction. The court’s verdict sets an important precedent for swift judicial action in cases involving crimes against minors.

With justice delivered efficiently, this ruling highlights the importance of scientific advancements in legal proceedings and underscores the judiciary’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals.
