Cuttack: A newborn was allegedly stolen from Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of SCB Medical College and Hospital here on Monday.
The hospital authorities began investigation after a complaint was lodged in this regard. The ward attendants, nurses and other workers are being questioned. The CCTV footage is also being examined, hospital authorities said.
According to reports, wife of Tapan Kumar Jena, a resident of Chandanpur in Puri, had delivered twins through cesarean section. One of the twins was doing well while another suffered from neonatal jaundice. She was shifted to the SNCU for special photo therapy to treat jaundice.
A relative who attended the newborn at SNCU alleged that when he went out of the ward for some work, somebody stole the infant.
The news spread across the hospital. When it came to the notice of hospital superintendent, he ordered for an investigation.
