Nagrota Army Station attack

A tense security incident unfolded at the Nagrota Army Station in Jammu on Saturday evening, raising fresh concerns about cross-border tensions in the volatile region.

According to an official statement from the White Knight Corps, an alert sentry detected suspicious movement near the heavily guarded perimeter of the military installation around 17:58 IST. The sentry issued a challenge, which led to a brief but intense exchange of fire with the unidentified suspect. During the encounter, the sentry sustained a minor injury, while the suspect managed to evade immediate capture.

The White Knight Corps, also known as the XVI Corps of the Indian Army, promptly launched search operations to track down the intruder or intruders involved in the incident. “Search operations are underway to track the intruder(s),” the White Knight Corps posted on X.

The incident comes amid a broader escalation of hostilities along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border, with reports of ceasefire violations by Pakistan earlier on the same day.

According to reports, the Pakistan Army launched drone attacks and artillery shelling in multiple sectors, including Srinagar, Akhnoor, Rajouri, and RS Pura, just hours after a ceasefire agreement was announced. Drones were also shot down in Rajasthan’s Pokhran and Kashmir’s Baramulla, signalling a significant breach of the truce.

With ceasefire violations, drone attacks, and now a potential infiltration attempt, the region remains on edge, awaiting further updates on the investigation and the broader implications for India-Pakistan relations.
