The central government held a high-level all-party meeting on Thursday, May 8, to brief political leaders on the outcome and aftermath of Operation Sindoor, a series of targeted military strikes against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The strikes were conducted in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.

Chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the meeting saw the presence of key ministers including Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, J.P. Nadda, and Nirmala Sitharaman. The Opposition was represented by senior leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sanjay Singh, Supriya Sule, Sanjay Raut, and Asaduddin Owaisi, among others.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the purpose of the meeting was to ensure political unity and transparency regarding India’s calibrated military response. According to the government, the missile strikes hit nine terrorist infrastructure sites with “pinpoint precision,” including known strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.

This was the second such meeting in two weeks, the first being on April 24, shortly after the terror attack. The government emphasized that such operations are part of India’s broader strategy to dismantle cross-border terrorism and uphold national security.
