The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a continued spell of heavy rain across various parts of Odisha through May 2, with several districts placed under weather alerts.

According to the latest IMD bulletin, districts such as Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, and Dhenkanal are expected to witness isolated heavy showers on April 29. Hailstorms could also occur in some areas, leading the IMD to issue an Orange warning for heightened vigilance.

The rainfall activity is likely to persist, with districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Khurda bracing for heavy rains on April 30.

On May 1, showers are likely to hit Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
By May 2, regions like Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Nabarangpur are expected to see significant rainfall at isolated places.

The IMD has also warned of potential thunderstorms across many parts of Odisha between April 29 and May 4, indicating a prolonged period of unstable weather.

In the past 24 hours, rainfall was already reported from several districts, including Rayagada, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, and Sambalpur.

The IMD further noted that maximum temperatures are likely to remain largely steady over the next five days, with a minor increase of 2°C to 4°C expected thereafter.

Authorities have urged residents to stay alert, especially in districts under Orange warnings, and to follow updates closely for further advisories.
