Terrorists belonging to the Pakistan-sheltered outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) are undergoing specialised maritime and underwater combat training at Charna Island, located just 50 kilometres off Karachi, under the guise of eco-tourism, according to sources.
Operating under LeT’s “Dawa marine wing” or “Sada-e-Hurriyat,” cadres are being trained in scuba diving, combat swimming, and underwater tactical operations. The trainers belong to the Pakistani Markazi Muslim League (PMML), a known proxy front for Lashkar.
While the terror group has maintained a maritime unit since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, recent intelligence confirms renewed efforts to execute larger-scale sea-borne strikes. Indian security agencies remain fully updated and vigilant regarding potential maritime threats.
Concurrently, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) executed raids across six locations in the Union Territory, including Srinagar, Budgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama. The operation targeted an active LeT recruitment module radicalising local youth via digital platforms.
Incriminating documents and electronic devices were confiscated, including materials from the residence of 22-year-old graduate Mohammad Yaseen Mir, whose Pakistani-national mother is under investigation for suspected ongoing links.
The developments follow India’s precision strikes during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, which destroyed major LeT infrastructure, including its headquarters in Muridke and multiple launchpads along the Line of Control.
