The highly anticipated third instalment of the OMG franchise, titled Oh My Goddess, has reportedly run into a major setback, with director Amit Rai stepping down from the project.
Industry insiders reveal that Rai and the producers decided to part ways following prolonged creative disagreements regarding the film’s direction. Sources close to OTT platforms suggest that the friction extended beyond the screenplay, involving major points of contention over lead casting decisions and proposed release strategies.
The project previously drew headline interest over reports that Rani Mukerji was being considered to headline the lead role alongside Akshay Kumar.
However, Mukerji reportedly opted out of the film due to creative differences with Rai, prompting the production team to rethink casting options.
Despite several attempts by the producers to align with Rai on the script and overall vision, the differences proved irreconcilable. The makers have now decided to move forward without the director, paving the way for a fresh creative voice to take charge of the franchise.
Following the massive success of OMG – Oh My God! (2012) and OMG 2 (2023), fans remain eager to see who will be brought on board to revive the franchise’s next chapter.
