A quiet evening turned into a night of absolute horror for residents of Budhanagar in Bhubaneswar when a group of more than eight masked miscreants went on an unchecked violent spree, wielding swords and terrifying the local populace.
According to reports, the gang swept through the neighbourhood carrying lethal weapons, casually smashing parked vehicles, and unleashing chaos across the locality. The sudden outbreak of violence triggered widespread panic, sending residents scrambling for safety indoors.
During the rampage, the attackers targeted an employee of a local private medical facility, subjecting him to a brutal physical assault. Moments later, the gang turned their weapons on another youth in a separate incident, attacking him with a sword and leaving him with critical injuries. Having executed the violent strike and left terror in their wake, the attackers fled the scene before local authorities could arrive.
Following formal complaints, officers from the Laxmisagar Police Station rushed to the spot alongside the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) to conduct a preliminary crime scene investigation and secure physical evidence.
The Commissionerate Police have launched a full-scale manhunt to trace the assailants. Investigators are currently reviewing footage from network CCTV cameras installed around Budhanagar and major exit routes to map the gang’s entry and escape points, identify individual suspects, and piece together the sequence of events.
While the exact motive behind the targeted assault remains unknown, police officials confirmed that multiple teams are actively working to arrest the perpetrators and restore public confidence in the area.
