In a major development, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday announced that the third instalment of funds under the Subhadra Yojana will be disbursed on April 22 to eligible beneficiaries.
The move aims to ensure that only deserving recipients benefit from the state government’s flagship women empowerment scheme.
Speaking to the media, Parida said a comprehensive household-level survey will be launched after April 14 to review beneficiaries, particularly focusing on those who were excluded from the second instalment. “We want to extend the benefits to all eligible women. A special survey will help us understand why nearly 1 lakh beneficiaries missed out earlier and help correct those errors,” she stated.
Alongside the third instalment, newly verified applicants will receive their first instalment on April 22 and 23. So far, over 1.7 lakh fresh applications have been submitted under the scheme, but only those verified as eligible will be included in the upcoming payout.
Parida also clarified that no new applications will be accepted going forward. Instead, the government’s focus will shift to identifying errors in past rejections and ensuring greater transparency and fairness in future disbursements.
The survey will also cover those who received the first instalment but were later excluded. Officials will conduct door-to-door verification and hold community-level meetings to analyze patterns of exclusion and strengthen the scheme’s implementation.
Furthermore, the Deputy CM added that once eligible girls under the scheme turn 21 years old, they may again qualify for additional benefits under the Subhadra initiative.
This move reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that no deserving woman is left behind in accessing the financial support envisioned under the Subhadra Yojana.
