Washington: The US President Joe Biden has sharply criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin and led a standing ovation for the embattled Ukrainian people in a State of the Union speech.
“Let each of us if you’re able to stand, stand and send an unmistakable signal to Ukraine and to the world,” Biden said.
The lawmakers stood, applauded and roared, many of them waving Ukrainian flags.
“While he [Putin] may make gains on the battlefield – he will pay a continuing high price over the long run,” Biden said.
He added the US is working to seize yachts and apartments of Russian oligarchs, saying: “We are coming for your ill-begotten gains.”
