In response to prevailing wind warnings and a recent advisory issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department of Odisha has directed all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state to remain on high alert.

Additional Chief Secretary of H&UD Dept, Usha Padhee, IAS, issued the directive on Monday, emphasizing the urgent need for precautionary measures to safeguard public safety and property.

Under the new instructions, all ULB authorities are required to closely monitor local weather conditions and maintain seamless coordination with their respective District Administrations. Civic authorities have been strictly instructed to comply with all advisories and directives issued by competent authorities during this period of adverse weather.

The H&UD Department highlighted the necessity of heightened vigilance and preparedness, urging ULBs to maintain a prompt response system to address any eventuality. A key priority outlined in the directive is the uninterrupted delivery of essential municipal services, ensuring that citizens are not left without critical support while timely measures are taken to minimize risks.

The department has also issued a strong advisory for residents. Citizens are urged to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary movement during severe weather conditions, and strictly follow the safety guidelines issued by local administrations.

The H&UD Department continues to maintain close coordination with all ULBs, stressing that civic bodies must remain vigilant and responsive to ensure the utmost safety and well-being of the public throughout the warning period.
