In view of the impending cyclonic storm “Arnab” over the Bay of Bengal and warnings of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, the Koraput District Administration has declared a three-day closure of all educational institutions and child care centres across the district.
Precautionary School Closure Announced
According to an official order issued by the Collector and District Magistrate of Koraput on October 26, 2026, all Government, Government-aided, and private schools, along with all Anganwadi Centres in the district, will remain closed on October 27, 28, and 29, 2026.
The decision has been taken as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of school children and avert any untoward incidents during the adverse weather condition.
Staff Attendance Mandatory for Emergency Support
Although students are exempted from attending classes, the district administration has instructed that all Headmasters, Headmistresses, teachers, Anganwadi workers, and administrative staff must remain present at their respective institutions during normal working hours.
The District Education Officer (DEO), District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), and local administrative officials have been directed to strictly monitor compliance. The order also warned that any deviation from these instructions will be viewed seriously by the authorities.
