In a chilling case of an extramarital affair turning deadly, a woman and her lover have been arrested for the brutal murder of her husband in Kanloi village under the Bagdia police limits in Odisha’s Anugola district.
The victim, identified as Dilip Sethi, was murdered on Dussehra night. According to police investigations, Dilip’s wife, Saudamini Sethi, was locked in an illicit relationship with Khageswar Sahu from Nuagaon Badasahi. When Dilip strongly objected to their affair, the couple hatched a sinister plot to eliminate him and clear the path for their relationship.
On the night of Dussehra—while the rest of the village was immersed in festive celebrations—Saudamini allegedly laced Dilip’s chicken curry with rat poison. When the poison began to take effect and Dilip struggled in agony, the accused reportedly strangled him and delivered fatal blows to his head with an axe to ensure he did not survive.
The heinous crime came to light following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, Sauri Sethi. Acting swiftly, local police and an Anugola scientific team launched a thorough investigation, cracking the case within just 48 hours of the incident.
Authorities have successfully recovered key pieces of evidence from the crime scene, including the axe used in the murder, blood-stained clothing, and the cloth used for strangulation. Both accused, Saudamini Sethi and Khageswar Sahu, have been arrested and forwarded to court as police continue their probe into this sensational case that has left the local community in utter shock.
