Following a massive electoral roll revision in Delhi that saw nearly 4.76 million names removed from the draft roll on August 31, the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office reported on Friday that only 250,754 Form 6 applications were received through October 22.
This application tally encompasses both new first-time electors and citizens whose names were deleted under the Absent, Shifted, Dead, or Duplicate (ASDD) categories during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR). An additional 212,400 Form 6 applications were submitted prior to the draft roll’s publication on August 31.
Resolution of Flagged Entries and District Breakdown
Out of approximately 3.3 million individuals flagged for logical discrepancies or lacking linkage to the 2002 base voter roll, nearly 2.95 million cases have been resolved. These electors will remain on the final rolls unless formal objections are lodged using Form 7.
The volume of re-enrolment and new voter applications varied significantly across Delhi’s administrative districts:
- Highest Application Volumes: West Delhi (comprising Tilak Nagar, Janakpuri, Rajouri Garden, and Vikaspuri) recorded the highest number at 30,361 applications, followed by North West Delhi (25,925) and East Delhi (24,200).
- Lowest Application Volumes: New Delhi district (comprising New Delhi and Delhi Cantonment) registered the lowest count at just 4,341 applications, followed by Old Delhi (10,668) and Central Delhi (10,796).
Special Camps and Final Disposal Deadlines
Since the Election Commission of India (ECI) initiated nationwide special camps on September 20, authorities have conducted roughly 89,000 camps across Delhi, generating 158,470 Form 6 applications between September 20 and October 22. Poll officials noted that the low overall re-enrolment volume suggests the draft deletion lists were compiled through due process, with many former residents choosing to retain voter registrations in their native states or current residential locations after moving.
The claims and objections window—covering Form 6 (inclusion), Form 7 (deletion), and Form 8 (modification)—closes on October 30. All submitted applications will be processed by November 30 ahead of the publication of the final electoral roll on December 4.
