Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Thursday that he will personally speak to singers Mika Singh and Daler Mehndi to resolve the ongoing controversy surrounding Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal’s public reprimand of Mehndi.
The confrontation took place on October 18 during the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in Tehri Garhwal district.
Uniyal publicly confronted Mehndi on stage, alleging the singer was under the influence of alcohol and lip-syncing. In response, Mehndi’s brother, Mika Singh, refuted the claims on social media, asserting that Daler does not consume alcohol and suffered from poor health. Mika strongly demanded a public apology from the minister for the humiliation.
Addressing the matter at a press conference, CM Dhami noted that Uniyal had already issued a clarification explaining that he was unaware of Mehndi’s health condition. Emphasising that the state deeply respects artists and scholars, Dhami described the incident as a product of situational public pressure.
“I will first speak with Mika. I will also speak with Daler Mehndi… I am friends with both,” Dhami remarked, stating it is time to bring the matter to a close.
