Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday declared that “protests and demonstrations achieve nothing,” urging political leaders to prioritise public welfare over negative politics.
Speaking in outer Delhi at an event to unveil 33 Delhi Jal Board (DJB) infrastructure projects worth Rs 8,941 crore, Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over their recent “vote chori” allegations.
Accusing the opposition of employing “political jugglery and mobocracy” to challenge popular mandates, he warned that failure to deliver on governance would lead to their complete political erasure.
Shah dismissed opposition claims questioning electoral integrity and electronic voting machines whenever the BJP wins, calling it an excuse to cover up poll defeats and protect infiltrator vote banks. Asserting that the BJP’s performance-oriented politics would keep it in power for 30 years, Shah rejected foreign travel, affirming his commitment to staying grounded in India.
Turning to environmental issues, Shah blamed previous administrations for the Yamuna’s degradation, pledging a fully restored, clean Yamuna by May 2029 through concerted inter-state efforts.
He also highlighted the clearing of over two crore tonnes of waste from Delhi’s landfills, promising their transformation into public gardens within two years.
