India Women produced a clinical bowling performance to restrict Zimbabwe Women to 102/8 in their allotted 20 overs in the second T20 International at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium on Sunday.
India now require 103 runs to secure victory and strengthen their position in the series.
After being put under pressure by a cautious Zimbabwean start, the Indian bowlers maintained tight lines and struck at regular intervals to prevent the visitors from building substantial partnerships.
Zimbabwe’s innings was anchored by Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, who top-scored with 34 runs off 32 deliveries. However, the middle-order failed to capitalize as India kept chipping away with timely breakthroughs. Josephine Nkomo provided some resistance in the latter stages, helping Zimbabwe cross the 100-run mark.
Young all-rounder Niki Prasad emerged as India’s standout performer with crucial wickets that halted Zimbabwe’s progress during the middle overs. Deepti Sharma, Kranti Gaud, Sree Charani and Arundhati Reddy also contributed with key dismissals as the hosts maintained control throughout the innings.
India’s sharp fielding further tightened the screws, with multiple run-outs adding to Zimbabwe’s woes. The innings ended on a dramatic note when Francisca Chipare was run out off the final ball, leaving Zimbabwe at 102/8.
With only 103 runs needed for victory, India Women will back their batting lineup to complete the chase and wrap up another convincing performance in Raipur.
