Debagada police have cracked the murder case of 25-year-old Shiba Kindo, a resident of Ambulpani village under Tileibani block, revealing that six individuals—including three juveniles—were involved in the crime.
The three adult accused have been identified as Ashutosh Sindhiria (19), Kshirod Podh (19), and Raja Rana (21). Following the rejection of their bail pleas, they were remanded to judicial custody, while the three minors were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
According to sources, the prime accused, Raja Rana, orchestrated the murder plot after Shiba secretly recorded a video of Raja with his female friend inside a forest. Shiba had allegedly been blackmailing Raja, threatening to make the video viral.
On Sept 24, Raja called Shiba on his phone and lured him to a location near the Maa Kusmanda temple along the Kailash Chhak-Gailo road. There, Raja and his accomplices attacked Shiba with knives and a wooden stick, leaving him critically injured.
In a bid to cover their tracks, the attackers called an ambulance and sent Shiba to the Tileibani Hospital. Due to his deteriorating condition, he was transferred to the Debagada District Headquarters Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police registered a case, identified the culprits, and seized two blood-stained knives, a wooden stick, a motorcycle, and the victim’s damaged mobile phone.
