A major theft was reported at a house in Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Vihar ahead of the festive season, raising security concerns.
A formal complaint has been registered at the Tamando police station (Case No. 426/26).
According to the complainant, Sagar Dash, an unidentified intruder unlawfully entered his residence on the evening of Oct 1. The perpetrator fled the scene with a black vanity bag and a purse containing valuables.
CCTV footage shows a stout, helmet-wearing suspect, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, riding a vehicle with its number plate deliberately hidden by a cloth and a bag.
The stolen items include approximately Rs 20,000 in cash, two pairs of gold earrings, a gold chain, a mangalsutra, four gold bangles, and a purse containing multiple debit and credit cards. Additionally, a passport belonging to the complainant’s wife, Roja Ghosh, was inside the stolen vanity bag.
Locals noted that similar minor thefts have reportedly occurred in the neighbourhood recently. Tamando police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter and are examining CCTV footage to identify the suspect and recover the stolen valuables.
