The Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department of Odisha organised a special Camp Court at UNNATI Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
Led by Principal Secretary Smt. Usha Padhee, the initiative was undertaken under the direction of Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi to expedite the disposal of appeal cases under the Odisha Development Authorities (ODA) Act, 1982.
With over 800 pending appeal cases, the Camp Court aimed to provide relief to citizens affected by administrative decisions of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). During the day-long session, 200 cases were successfully heard and disposed of. This mechanism allows affected individuals to receive fair hearings and speedy resolution of grievances.
To further strengthen the appellate system, the government has designated additional senior officers, including the Director of Municipal Administration, Special Secretaries, and Additional Secretaries, as appellate authorities. This decentralised approach improves efficiency and minimises pendency, ensuring justice is served more swiftly.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and accountability in urban governance. The Camp Court has received positive feedback from the public and is expected to continue in subsequent phases to clear the remaining cases in a time-bound manner.
