Six girl students of the Adarsha Vidyalaya in Malkangiri fell ill late Sunday evening after consuming their regular evening meal of bread and milk.

According to sources, the girls complained of severe abdominal and chest pain shortly after the meal.

The incident occurred in the school located in the Malkangiri Sadar block. It is reported that bread and milk are regularly served to students during the evening meal, but on this particular night, six students developed symptoms requiring urgent medical attention.

School authorities swiftly admitted the affected girls to the District Headquarters Hospital, where their treatment is ongoing. Medical staff are closely monitoring their condition, and preliminary assessments are being conducted to determine the cause of illness.

The sudden onset of symptoms has raised concerns about food safety and hygiene protocols within the school premises. Authorities are expected to carry out a detailed investigation into the food preparation and storage methods.
