Cuttack: In a special drive launched by Odisha police, a total of 4945 persons have been arrested and non-bailable warrants issued by the court have been executed.
According to Odisha Police officials, a maximum of 850 persons have been arrested in Ganjam District including 57 in connection with warrants in sessions trial cases during the special drive which was carried out across the state between August 16 and 25, 2021.
645 wanted accused against who warrants had been issued were arrested in Balasore district, 547 wanted in Khordha district and 278 each have been rounded up in Kandhamal and Cuttack districts, officials informed.
Meanwhile, Odisha DGP, Abhay has appreciated the good work done by the state police and said that the special drive against the criminals is also crucial to maintain peace and order during the upcoming Durga Puja festivities in the State.
He has also issued appreciation letters to SPs of Ganjam, Balasore, Khurdha, Cuttack, and Kandhamal districts.
