At least four students lost their lives and several others were injured when the roof of Piplodi Primary School in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district collapsed on Friday. Authorities fear that more children could still be trapped under the debris.
According to SP Jhalawar Amit Kumar Budania, both the District Collector and senior police officials have rushed to the site to oversee rescue operations. Emergency response teams, including local police and disaster management personnel, are engaged in a massive search and rescue effort.
A video shared by PTI captures the chaos at the scene, with locals and rescue teams frantically clearing debris. A bulldozer has been deployed to remove large blocks, while residents are seen attempting to lift bricks by hand to reach those trapped.
Officials have not yet confirmed the total number of injured students, but those rescued have been shifted to nearby hospitals. The cause of the roof collapse is still being investigated, with initial reports pointing to possible structural weaknesses due to recent heavy rainfall in the region.
