The Agriculture Department seized illegal, fake fertilisers in Nuapada district after a raid in Godfula village under Nuapada Sadar block.
Acting on a tip-off, District Agriculture Officer Pradeep Nayak led a team to the location and seized 177 bags of fake chemical fertiliser and 89 containers of liquid fertiliser from a roadside shop.
Officials reported that a trader from Haryana had been selling fake fertilisers across different areas of Nuapada district under the label of bio-fertilisers. The raid confirmed the allegations and exposed large-scale illegal distribution.
Pradeep Nayak stated that strict action will follow the seizure. He emphasised that the department will continue monitoring to prevent further circulation of fake fertilisers. The raid team included the Additional Tehsildar of Nuapada and several agriculture officers who supervised the seizure on-site.
The Agriculture Department highlighted that fake fertilisers pose serious risks to farmers, soil health, and crop productivity. Farmers often purchase these products believing them to be genuine, which results in financial losses and reduced yields. The department assured farmers that measures are underway to ensure only certified fertilisers reach the market.
