A 17-year-old girl was found in a bloodied and semi-conscious condition at Bhubaneswar’s Capital Hospital late Friday night, prompting police to suspect sexual assault. The Capital police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation following a report from the hospital authorities.
Incident and Initial Response
According to sources, the girl arrived at Capital Hospital on her own, seeking immediate medical attention. During examination, doctors reportedly discovered serious injuries that raised concerns of possible sexual assault.
Hospital staff promptly informed the police outpost, after which she was admitted for treatment and observation.
Victim’s Condition and Police Statement
Police officials said the survivor is currently in shock and unable to give a clear statement about the incident. Investigators suspect she might be withholding or unable to recall certain details due to trauma.
“The victim is under medical care, and her statement will be recorded once doctors confirm she is stable enough,” a police officer said.
Preliminary Medical Findings
Doctors have indicated that the girl may have been administered a contraceptive pill, which could have worsened her health condition. Police are awaiting the full forensic and medical reports to determine the exact cause of injuries.
Possible Background and Investigation Progress
Preliminary information suggests the girl may belong to a nomadic trading community from Bihar, temporarily residing in the Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar.
Police have begun efforts to locate her family or guardians. So far, no missing person complaint has been filed.
Ongoing Probe
Authorities have registered a suo motu case based on the hospital’s medical report. Efforts are underway to trace the suspect and gather CCTV footage and witness statements from nearby areas.
The survivor remains under medical supervision, and police have assured that strict action will be taken once evidence is verified.
