In a disturbing incident at Nigamananda High School in Kalyani, Bahanaga block of Balasore district, a routine morning prayer session turned chaotic on Wednesday when several students suddenly fell ill.
It began with one girl collapsing, followed by 15 others experiencing dizziness and physical discomfort, prompting immediate medical attention.
School authorities swiftly arranged ambulances to transport the affected students to Gopalpur Community Health Centre for preliminary treatment. Upon medical advice, they were later shifted to Remuna Medical College for further care. Parents, alarmed by the situation, took their children home, even those who showed no symptoms.
Medical officials confirmed that five of the girls were in critical condition and were subsequently shifted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for advanced care. The District Education Officer also visited the hospital to assess the situation and ensure proper medical attention.
